Thousands of Oregon doctors, nurses begin largest health care strike in state history
1 min read
Nearly 5,000 doctors and nurses at several Providence hospitals and clinics hit the picket lines Friday in what could be the largest health care worker strike in Oregon history.
The Oregon Nurses Association, which represents them, held a news conference Thursday afternoon.
They said their members have done what they can to prevent a strike.
Meanwhile, Providence said it stopped negotiating with ONA after the strike was announced so it could focus on hiring replacement workers, adding they’ll return to the bargaining table once the strike begins.
