Oregon lawmakers explore ways to curb utility rate hikes

A handful of Democrat and Republican lawmakers in Oregon are exploring ways to slow the increase of utilities costs this legislative session.

Over the past four years rates for Oregon’s largest utility companies have increased exponentially. The Citizen’s Utility Board (CUB) estimates that rate increases since 2019 have brought many PGE customers’ bills to average out at about 50% higher than they were in 2019.
