Vancouver Students plan walkout after teacher’s sexual misconduct charges dropped

Several students at Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver are planning a walkout on their first day of classes after the winter break on Monday morning.

Senior student Jessyka Malone, who is organizing the protest, says she and other students feel "betrayed" by administrators after discovering that one of their teachers was arrested on sexual misconduct charges just before the break.

Malone says word about the walkout has spread on social media and she expects a few hundred students to participate. She said the Vancouver Police Department agreed to have a presence at the protest.

"I posted it on my Instagram and then people posted it on theirs and just continued from there," she noted. "You go to the school to be safe and to learn, but then you find out something like this happens and you feel like you can’t trust anybody."
