Vancouver Public Schools says charges dropped against Hudson’s Bay High teacher
2 min read
The Vancouver School District sent a message to Hudson’s Bay High School families on Friday saying a teacher accused of sexual misconduct of a minor has been "exonerated of his criminal charges" because the statute of limitations has expired.
In the message sent to parents at around 4:50 p.m., the district said 43-year-old Shadbreon Gatson was cleared of the charges on Thursday.
It was unclear which charges the district was referring to.
"When new information from a previous investigation was shared with us, we contacted law-enforcement on behalf of the victim and provided the additional information that was shared with us with them. Their investigation led to the arrest of Shadbreon Gatson," the district wrote.
Vancouver police arrested Gatson on Friday, Dec. 20, accused of a sexual relationship with a student in 2013 when she was 16 and he was 31.
