Sexual misconduct charge filed against Vancouver teacher decade after investigation closed

Court documents allege Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver opened an internal investigation into 43-year-old Shadbreon Gatson in 2013 after he was allegedly discovered having sex with a student in a classroom.

"To think that they were hiding a predator at school and having multiple accusations and for him to still be there, it’s terrifying and it makes me sick," said Susan Brown whose son attends the high school and was a student in Gatson’s class. "I told him what happened and he’s just, he’s sick about it right now."

Gatson is facing first-degree sexual misconduct charges, a Class C felony, relating to his alleged relations with the student who was 16 years old at the time.

He appeared in court virtually on Monday and his bail was set at $100,000.
