More than 450 homeless people in Multnomah County died in 2023, according to the county Health Department’s annual review.
The Domicile Unknown report found that approximately 456 people died during the 2023 calendar year. It is a drastic increase from the 315 deaths recorded in the 2022 review. Of the 456 deaths, 251 were linked to fentanyl — triple the number reported in 2022. County officials say it shows “a clear sign of the synthetic opioid’s deadly impact.”
