Portland stripper arrested in allegedly unprovoked attack on DJ
4 min read
A Disc Jockey at Casa Diablo Strip Club in northwest Portland is in the hospital recovering from a punctured lung and multiple stab wounds after he was allegedly attacked by one of the club’s dancers last Sunday night around 9 p.m.
"I just wanna thank the dancers who helped save my life and the EMS team at Legacy Emmanuel," Duncan Allen said during an interview with KATU.
The Portland Police Bureau said after responding to the incident and viewing surveillance footage of the stabbing that took place inside the club, they found 29-year-old Peyton Lathan hiding in some bushes down the street from the club. She was arrested and charged with second-degree assault (Class B Felony) attempted first-degree assault (Class B Felony) and unlawful use of a weapon (Class C Felony).
Allen claims the assault was random and unprovoked.
"We’ve had a great working relationship the couple times we worked together. She’s always asked for music and I played it," he said. "She’s always tipped me really well. We’ve always been friendly."
Allen shared surveillance footage with KATU from that night. It shows him in the DJ booth and a woman in a dress standing next to the booth with a suitcase nearby. From the partial footage, it is unclear how long she had been standing there. The footage shows her handling something near her right wrist before extracting what appears to be a blade. With the blade in her hand she approaches Allen from behind and appears to stab him three times before walking away. Just before she leaves the frame she can be seen turning towards him with her arm raised.
"She had actually attacked me from the back and stabbed me in the back, the side, the armpit in the hand," Allen said. "She screamed something like "there you mother(expletive)" or something like that and she retreated outside the side door."
Allen said he realized the side wound had punctured his lung when it became difficult to breathe. He immediate sought help from co-workers.
"Thankfully all the girls sprang into action at my work and they were able to put pressure on my wounds and keep me elevated keep me reminding me to breathe slow," he said. "They called the ambulance and they all worked together like a team and within six minutes of calling the ambulance, the ambulance arrived. By that point I was dying, my BPM was like 35 my oxygen levels were really low and everything was fading in and out."
He said all he could think about the entire time was his dog, Stone.
"That’s the only thing that kept me going," he said. "I didn’t want to leave this world and have Stone not know what happened to his dad, not see my body, all that stuff."
As of Saturday, Allen was still in the hospital after undergoing multiple operations to remove fluid from his lung. He says he will need to undergo rehabilitation for his lung once he is released. Stone and his co-workers have been visiting him regularly and he is scheduled to be released in a few days.
According to court documents when police arrested her, Lathan told them she would "pled insanity" and claimed Allen is a drug dealer while claiming she had not consumed drugs or alcohol.
In July, Lathan pled guilty to First Degree Criminal Mischief (Class A Misdemeanor) for destroying someone’s property at another downtown Portland strip club. She was sentenced to six months probation, 32 hours of community service, and ordered to pay restitution of $1,336 to the individual whose property was damaged. Her probation conditions included not possessing any weapons, she was also ordered to have a mental health evaluation and follow recommended treatment.
