Lawmakers heard emotional testimony Wednesday in a hearing on the debt Oregon has accumulated during a historic wildfire season.
The hearing comes ahead of a special session during which lawmakers are set to release $218 million to the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) to pay off the outstanding invoices for contractors that aided those offices during the 2024 wildfire season.
