Multnomah County agrees to nearly double spending on temporary substance abuse rehab

Multnomah County commissioners voted three to one on Thursday to nearly double the budget for construction costs on a temporary deflection center.
For a little over a month, police have been taking people caught with drugs in Portland to a renovated warehouse in the Buckman Neighborhood dubbed the "Coordinated Care Pathway Center," though many have referred to it as the deflection center because people arrested for drug possession are given the option to deflect away from jail and charges by choosing to go there instead.
