Chicago eases winter parking ban for 24 hours, opts for warnings over tickets and towing

It’s not often Chicagoans get a Christmas miracle when it comes to parking tickets and getting their vehicle unexpectedly towed, but that’s exactly what happened overnight Saturday.
Every year on Dec. 1, the City of Chicago’s overnight parking ban kicks in, barring residents from parking on pre-designated streets where snow plows need to operate from 3-to-7 a.m.
But this year, instead of leaving tickets and relocating hundreds of cars to Lower Wacker, workers with the city left flyers that issued warnings instead of beginning the process that becomes a major headache for residents all across the city during this time of year.
WGN’s Bronagh Tumulty reports on the story.
