Study shows wildfire smoke poses greater risk to children, parents need better warnings
1 min read
A new study from the University of Oregon found that wildfire smoke can be especially bad for kids, and parents may not have the proper tools to understand the risk.
The American scale ranges from 0 to 500 and the higher the number, the more hazardous the air is. The Canadian scale ranges from one to 11 and can be easier to understand, according to the University of Oregon’s research.
Cathy Slavik, who led the research said that when given both scales, parents noticed the hazardous air quality regardless.
