Oregon celebrates over 100,000 electric vehicles registered in the state

One hundred and two thousand, four hundred and sixty-one electric vehicles — and counting.
The state of Oregon is celebrating that milestone and explaining how far they have come.
"To put this in perspective, 10 years ago the state of Oregon, we had about 5,500 EVs registered in the state. Five years ago, 27,000 EVs registered in the states, and you can see the dramatic increase in the number of EVs in our great state," said Kris Strickler, the director of the Oregon Department of Transportation.
ODOT, along with the Oregon Department of Energy and Environmental Quality, spoke about how the transition to an electric vehicle will reduce greenhouse gases.
"These charging stations have only been in place for four months, but their impact has been immediate. From July to October, the stations have reduced more than 2,600 pounds of CO2 from our local air. They’ve saved the planet, or planted, the equivalent of 12 barrels of oil and more than 500 gallons of fuel," said Erin Graham, president and CEO of ONTEAM.
