YVYV: Meeting the new District 1 City Councilors – Loretta Smith and Candace Avalos
2 min read
The biggest change in the history of Portland’s 111-year-old government will take place in six short weeks.
The current commission form of government, which includes the mayor and four city commissioners, will no longer exist.
In its place, is a 12-member city council that will set policy while the mayor will oversee city business with the help of a city administrator.
Last week, Steve Dunn interviewed Portland Mayor Elect Keith Wilson about his ambitious plan to end unsheltered homelessness within 12 months.
On today’s edition of Your Voice, Your Vote, KATU and our sponsor, Willamette University, want you to hear directly from newly-elected Portland City Councilors on the critical issues they plan to address when they take office in January.
