Iconic Portland record shop, 2nd Avenue Records, asked to vacate historic building

2 min read

It’s a downtown vinyl shop that hasn’t changed much since the 1990s, at least that’s what the regulars say about 2nd Avenue Records.

“Back in the 90s I was a little metal head girl, so it was a place to discover new music,” said Roselin Ballard.

“This is the place to go for punk rock and hard-core records. I’ve been coming here all the time,” said Brian Gilroy.

But in early September, the store’s owner, and other business owners leasing space in the downtown historic Governor Building, was given notice to leave by the end of the year.
