Portland, neighbors await state’s decision on appeal tied to $2B filtration project

A major decision is expected next week in the future of a multi-billion-dollar Portland project.
Neighbors are fighting the Portland Water Bureau’s filtration treatment plant in Multnomah County. Constructionhas already started despite the pending appeal.
The city said it expects the Oregon Land Use Appeals Board to rule Nov. 18. The new filtration plant will treat water from the Bull Run watershed, a project that has exploded in cost from an estimated $500 million in 2017 to over $2 billion today.
