Food cart owners at the Portland Mercado will have to start paying rent again, after an 11-month freeze. The CEO of Hacienda CDC said the nonprofit is in debt from rebuilding the Portland Mercado that burned down in a January fire.
The news isn’t sitting well with vendors.
“They have made no progress whatsoever,” said Yudel, who works at the Havana Station food cart at the Portland Mercado.
