Oregon Education Department recommends districts ban cellphones in classrooms

The Oregon Department of Education is encouraging school districts to ban cellphones in class, saying they affect learning and students’ mental health.
Lake Oswego School District is one of eight school districts profiled in a 28-page report by the ODE, highlighting the benefits of restricting cellphone use in classrooms.
Kristen Colyer, the principal at Lake Oswego High School, said their "no phones" policy has improved learning outcomes, students’ social skills, and mental health.
