Portland call center helping with Hurricane Milton relief

Americans are assisting those impacted by Hurricane Milton from across the country.

That’s what Operation Blue Roof call center is doing right here in Portland.

Lt. Col. David Weart, the Deputy District Commander for the Corps of Engineers says "The focus here is really to an economy of forced mission that we can extend our resources here because essentially receiving calls, you can receive calls anywhere. And the natural urge is to send a bunch of people, a bunch of resources to the local area that can sort of surge the capacity for the local districts to really respond to what’s really needed."

This is all funded through FEMA and run by the Army Corps of Engineers.

When a disaster happens, FEMA will decide which counties are eligible for the temporary roofing and announce the website and call center’s phone number to sign up.
