Still shook up, man describes pulling wounded man from car after chaotic Portland shooting and crash

Gregory Hightower was sitting in line at a nearby fast-food restaurant drive-thru with his son when the shooting started.

A man had been shot while driving on a Portland street by someone in another car. The wounded man then crashed into a tractor-trailer.

Hightower rushed to help. Inside the wrecked car, he found a man badly wounded and bleeding, as well as the man’s pregnant and panicking girlfriend.

"I’m just fresh out of prison, and all this happened. I saved someone’s life," Hightower told KATU.
