Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has an update on Hurricane Helene’s aftermath
1 min read
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is speaking from Steinhatchee on Monday, giving the state an update in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
Joined by Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie and Major General John D. Haas Adjutant General of Florida, DeSantis is expected to begin speaking at 10:15 a.m.
Steinhatchee — also the site of landfall for Hurricane Debby in August — is less than 50 miles away from where Helene made landfall last week as a monster Category 4 storm. Many residents here and beyond are still recovering from intense flooding, damaging storm surge and extreme wreckage from winds topping 140 mph.
