Multnomah County judge releases man accused of kidnapping, sexually abusing disabled woman

Multnomah County court documents reveal the man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a developmentally delayed woman last week was released just days after his arrest.
Robert Joseph Bryant, 68, was arrested on Sept. 16 and charged with kidnapping, sex abuse in the second and third degrees, attempted assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police state Bryant kidnapped a woman who lives in a group home for vulnerable adults. The victim, who is a developmentally delayed 22-year-old woman with the functioning level of a 5-year-old child, was later found to have been sexually assaulted by her kidnapper.
