YVYV: Debating Measure 118 – the proposed ‘Oregon Rebate’ measure that would give residents $1,600

Perhaps the most controversial and the most closely watched measure on the November ballot, in Oregon, is Measure 118.

Supporters refer to it as the ‘Oregon Rebate,’ their website says: $1,600 for every Oregonian, every year.

The rebate could come in the form of a tax credit or a direct payment.

Corporations will pay for it with a 3% tax charged on their sales, in Oregon, above $25 million.

Measure 118 opponents, on their website, say it would impose the largest tax increase in Oregon history hurting the economy and driving up costs for businesses and consumers.
