Dozens of homes and businesses could be impacted by the Interstate Bridge replacement project

According to a new impact study, dozens of homes and businesses, as well as hundreds of jobs, could be impacted by the Interstate Bridge Replacement project.

The draft of the project’sSupplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) was released on Friday. The same day, project officials opened a 60-day window for public comment.

Multiple designs for a new Interstate Bridge and interchanges along the I-5 corridor in Portland and Vancouver are still under consideration. The different plans come with varied impacts to homes and businesses along the corridor.

In terms of "residential displacements," the study found that the project would impact 43 to 76 homes depending on the design plan.

When it comes to the commercial impact, between 36 and 39 businesses could be displaced by the bridge construction affecting 616 to 811 jobs, according to the study.

After the public comment window closes in November, project officials say they will use the feedback to finalize a design plan by summer 2025. Construction is estimated to start late 2025 or early 2026.
