Multnomah County takes next steps on $23M sobering center slated to open in 2026

The sobering center is part of phase three of the County’s Deflection program, which is being funded through state, county, and city funding sources. The deflection center currently cited in the Buckman neighborhood is temporary and part of the deflection program’s phase one.
The sobering center is meant to be a permanent location and the county is hoping to purchase a building or sign a long-term lease for it.
