Beaverton teachers say they want to avoid strike as contract negotiations stall

Teachers in the Beaverton School District said they are trying to avoid a strike as negotiations with the union have seemingly gone nowhere.

“We do not want to strike, striking is never our goal. That said, striking is not off the table because we’re going to do what we need to do to make sure that we have the schools that our students deserve,” Lindsay Ray, president of Beaverton Education Association, told KATU when asked if a strike was imminent.

BSD teachers have been working without a contract since June and are asking for better working conditions.
