New #Portland film examines nation’s fastest growing homeless demographic

Adults over the age of 55 are the fastest growing demographic of people experiencing homelessness nationwide. A Portland documentary premiering this month is giving a face to that statistic.

"Our hope really is to tell powerful and compelling stories of people who are experiencing homelessness, organize the community, and then help push for solutions to the issue of homelessness," said Micheal Larson, executive director of Humans for Housing, the nonprofit that produced the film.

U.S. Housing and Urban Development has been collecting data on people experiencing homelessness through an annual Point in Time Count (PIT count) since 2005.
