Masked thieves strike two Portland restaurants in early morning burglaries

Masked thieves broke into, not one, but two Portland restaurants on Monday.

According to Portland Police, on 5:30amofficers responded to reports of a burglary at Asha as the owner was watching it on a surveillance camera. A spokesperson for the department says when officers arrived no one was there. But did notice forced entry to the front door and other items missing.

A few hours later, officers responded to Gabbiano’s after an employee arrived for work and noticed the place had been burglarized.

"This is the fourth time in two and a half years since we’ve been here," Gabbiano’s Co-Owner told KATU."We don’t have a big corporation behind us and we’re waiting to get a quote on just the glass to repair, but we might have to replace the whole door and the frame just to be able to be safe."

Officials say, it appears the incident happened around 4:30 that morning. A PPB spokesperson tells KATU there was forced entry through a glass back door. The restaurant’s security cameras showed four masked suspects, armed with a crowbar, make their way through the bar.

Portland Police weren’t able to confirm if the two burglaries were connected.
