2 min read

Clackamas County officials confirm a person has died due to a suspected heat-related illness.

According to officials on Saturday, July 6, a 33-year-old man was transported from outside Multnomah County, where he died at a Portland hospital.

According to officials in both Clackamas and Multnomah County, all deaths are considered suspected and are under investigation as potential hot-weather-related deaths.

Three other deaths were also reported in Multnomah County.

The first death suspected as connected with this emergency, an 87-year-old man found in the 97230 ZIP code, was reported on Friday, July 5.

The second death, a 64-year-old man found in the 97206 ZIP code, was reported on Sunday, July 7.

The third death, a 75-year-old man found in the 97216 ZIP code, was also reported on Sunday, July 7.

Oregon State Police say they believe a 33-year-old Coos County man died of a heat-related issue.

On Tuesday afternoon, OSP added a fourth person from Multnomah County to the list, saying they’ve identified a 67-year-old woman who died of a possible heat-related issue.

Rick Graves with Portland Fire and Rescue says the agency has responded to 135 heat-related since July 4.
