Blocked on the 4th of July: Tegu keeps a woman from her property, deputies detain the long lizard

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to dozens of calls on the fourth of July, but this one takes the cake.

Deputies say they were called to a property on Price Road because a lizard was blocking a woman from her property.

When they got there, the lizard ran off.

Eventually, deputies tracked it down and discovered the lizard was more than three feet long.

It was captured and taken to an animal hospital for evaluation.

On Tuesday, DoveLewis Animal Hospital said the Tegu was found to be in good health and was successfully reunited with it’s owner.
