Police release first use of body-worn cameras in Portland police shooting incident
2 min read
Portland police released body cam footage from a late August incident involving an officer shooting and injuring a suspect.
The shooting happened on Aug. 24 on North Portsmouth Avenue. Police say the suspect, Robert Seeger, 52, was acting erratically and armed with a handgun on North Portsmouth Avenue.
Law enforcement says Seeger continued to yell and chase after police before ducking behind vehicles in an apartment complex parking lot.
Officers then deployed a 40 mm less lethal round. PPB says the suspect was injured, but continued to disobey commands. Police deployed a K9 and then arrested the man.
Seeger was released from the hospital on Aug. 28 and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and lodged on the following charges:
Three counts of unlawful use of a weapon
Three counts of menacing
Felon in possession of a firearm
First-degree burglary and other warrants
The body camera video centers on the shooting incident. There is also a narrated version followed by raw footage taken by four officers’ body-worn cameras.
