Changes coming to problem area near city owned housing in Vancouver

The Vancouver Housing Authority is advocating for some changes to a Vancouver neighborhood.

KATU first shared this story on August 22, after witnessing apparent drug deals, littered trash, and hearing neighbor’s horror stories about unwanted people in the neighborhood.

According to Andy Silver, Chief Executive Officer of the Vancouver Housing Authority, he’s heard the complaints residents have living near Northeast 78th Street and Fourth Mill Plain Avenue.

"We are not happy right now with the situation going on in this neighborhood,” he said during an exclusive interview with KATU.

Residents in the neighborhood have complained about the unwanted guests and crime that’s started since the opening of both The Meridian and the Pacific apartments. Silver says the apartments are not transitional housing, they are permanent subsidized housing geared towards helping people get their lives back on track.
