$215 million investment enhances MAX Red Line, shortens commutes

On Wednesday, Trimet expanded the MAX Red Line by adding 10 stations from Beaverton to the Hillsboro fairgrounds.

With the Blue Line already serving the area, the Red Line now makes train service more frequent in the area. They moved from two single-track sections to double-tracking.

The Better Red project goal is streamlining rail service from PDX to Hillsboro, officials say.

"How many of you have been on the train stuck as another train has had to waste?" said Veronica Vanderpool with the Federal Transportation Administration.

The project built a new MAX station about 500 feet north of the existing Gateway Transit Center.
