Union president says fight against grocery merger is about livability in Portland

On Wednesday, Dan Clay, the president of a labor union, UFCW555, spoke out against the proposed largest grocery merger in U.S. history: Kroger and Albertsons.
In a news conference Clay held after testifying in federal court, he alleged that Kroger isn’t paying its employees their fair share.
“We are fighting for the money that it takes to be able to survive in Portland for our members,” said Clay.
