From adversity to unity: Westview football embarks on a season of renewal

Westview High School has a new head football coach, after the former head coach, Jamal Jones, resigned after allegedly slapping multiple students at a summer football camp in McMinnville.

Jones is also a Hillsboro police officer and was placed on leave. He resigned from coaching after 16 months. He’s been charged with 12 counts of harassment by the Yamhill County district attorney.

The new coach, Dan Weaver, was named interim head coach of the Westview Wildcats in late July, according to a letter he sent out called “The Comeback Cats: Westview Football Looks to Flip the Script.”
