19K runners race 200 miles in the rain for Oregon’s Hood to Coast Relay

1 min read

The Hood to Coast relay, from Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood to Seaside on the Oregon coast, got off to a cool and wet start Friday morning.

But the weather didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. There was plenty of excitement to go around and plenty of people took selfies, giving them something to remember the event by besides muscle cramps and shin splints.

The course is 198 miles long. The Hood to Coast started in 1982 with eight teams, but now it’s limited to 1,000. Hundreds get turned away.

People come from around the world and every state.
