Between admin and firefighting, an Oregon 142nd Wing Staff Sergeant lifts to new heights

Staff Sgt. Michaela Thompson provides administrative support to maintenance personnel with Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Wing. But the 29-year-old single mother is also a firefighter for the 142nd Civil Engineer Squadron, and she competes as a natural bodybuilder.

"You always can give a little bit more. You can always try a bit harder. You can show up just a smidge bit better," she says in this story. "There’s always a knob. You can just turn it a little bit, even if it’s a tiny bit. It’s still more than what you thought you could give."
