Multnomah County releases new details for deflection center security plan

Multnomah County released a 57-page document detailing operations at its Deflection Center in Southeast Portland and subsequent plans for a Sobering Center.

The plan includes a description of what its hired security officers will be addressing, what they would do if backup is needed and the perimeter they’ll patrol.

The county promises to determine additional security needs on an ongoing basis after the deflection center opens.

The draft plan allocates $740,000 for security during the first 10-month period the center is in operation. This will pay for two on-site security officers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through a new contract with Intercon.
