PDX opens new main terminal after four years

After four years and over 2 billion dollars of renovations, the new main terminal at Portland International Airport is now open.

Curtis Robinhold, the Executive Director of the Port of Portland, told KATU, "I think people are gonna find it’s more PDX, so it reflects a lot of the stuff we had pre-construction and they’ll find it just to be like home again."

Everything in the new terminal is inspired by Oregon.

The Port of Portland says the new wood ceiling is nine acres of Douglas Fir sourced from within 300 miles of the airport. The white oak floors are from the Willamette Valley, and there will be 5,000 live plants inside once the project is complete.
