Helicopter provides needed help in keeping fire near Canby, Oregon small

1 min read

About 40 homes in the Canby-Oregon City area have been downgraded from a Level 3 to a Level 1 evacuation level after multiple fire companies and a helicopter dropping water worked all morning Friday to stop a wildfire from breaching a neighborhood.

A helicopter pilot arrived, dumping a thousand gallons of water per load. This helped get the fire under control within two hours.

“The helicopter was amazing,’ said Canby Fire Chief Jim Davis. “It saved us probably four days’ worth of work trying to get down to those hotspots.”
